End Hunger and Support Farmers

sugar

Today, October 16, is World Food Day. Join the global movement to end hunger.

Oxfam encourages you to host a World Food Day dinner to foster a conversation with your friends about where your food comes from, who cultivates it, and how you can take personal actions that will help protect farmers and farmland around the world.

You may already be doing your part to support farmers close to home. You can also help hard-working small-scale farmers around the world just by adding a couple of simple things to your routine. Start right in your kitchen—at your kitchen table. Try one of these recipes and share them with your friends.

This World Food Day, Oxfam is also encouraging you to use your power as a consumer to change the way some of the world’s biggest food companies do business. As demand for sugar increases, so does the rush for land to grow it. Land grabs are the sugar industry’s bitter secret. But we can change this. You’re a consumer – big food and beverage companies care what you think. Get the facts and take action at BehindTheBrands.org.
