Open a Restaurant, At Home

Here’s a fun summer activity for the kids for those days when you’re thinking “What are we all going to do today”? Why not open a restaurant in your home that’s completely conceived and run by the kids?
Invite another family over and while the adults sit, chat, and enjoy the summer weather, the kids are hard at work/play. The kids can come up with a name for their restaurant, set and decorate the table as they’d like, create the menu, take orders from their limited menu, prep/cook and serve. You can even try throwing in some prices, collecting money, and giving change for some math and business practice as well. (Obviously tailor this suggestion to the age and interest level of your kids!)
A sandwich themed lunch restaurant is a good starting point for this idea, but depending on their aptitude, anything could work.
